How to Calculate Weekly Unemployment Benefits When Working Part-time
As hard as it is to find a job these days, you might have to look for a part time job to supplement your weekly unemployment benefits. There is an easy way to figure out how much your weekly unemployment benefit will be by calculating how much you make in a given week with the part-time job. Calculating this is easy when you have the formula.

1
Determine your weekly gross pay from your part time job. This is the amount before deductions. If you get paid every two weeks, you need to keep track of hour many hours you work in the week from Sunday through Saturday and multiply that by your wage. For instance, 20 hours x $8 an hour = $160 a week.
-
2
Take your weekly gross income from your part time job in this case is $160. You subtract $30 (may very in some states) from your weekly gross income, which leaves you $130.
-
3
Take the $130 and multiply that by 67% or .67 (may vary in some states) that will equal $81.10. You then subtract this amount from your weekly unemployment benefit. For instance, if your weekly benefit rate were $355, you would subtract $81.10 from $355 for a total of $273.90. Round this amount to the nearest dollar which is $274.

Figure out how much your check will be in two weeks for your part time job, by taking the gross pay and subtracting 22%( better to figure high than to low) from it for deductions (federal, state, Medicare, social security taxes). For instance, if your pay is $320 every two weeks, you take 320 - 22% = 249.60 every two weeks.
-
5
Combine you two weeks of unemployment benefits and your two-week paycheck to see how much you will have to live on if you were to work a part time job while collecting unemployment benefits. For instance, $249.60 + $274 + $274 = $550.60 or $1,101.20 a month.
