How to Start and Run a Lemonade Stand
Lemonade stands are quintessential summertime projects for budding entrepreneurs. Setting Up
-
1
Make lemonade. Begin by combining 4 cups of cold water and 1 cup of sugar in a pitcher. Stir the mixture thoroughly, and cut a lemon into cartwheel slices. Add the round slices to the pitcher for 6 cups of lemonade.
Decide on a fair market price for your lemonade by the cup. For example, you can charge 25 cents for small cups that hold 3 oz., 50 cents for medium cups that hold 9 oz. and $1 for 16-oz. cups.

2
Build your lemonade stand. You can build one out of cardboard or wood, or simply use a card table. Make sure there's room for your lemonade pitcher and cups, as well as a place to hang your sign.
Choose a sales location on your property that has the most passerby traffic. For example, you may choose a spot that faces a busy main street where bikers and joggers pass by on a regular basis.

Create your sign with a piece of poster board and markers or paint. The main message on your sign should be "Lemonade for Sale" and your price per cup. Black paint or marker on a white poster board is a good contrast that makes it easy for potential customers to see while passing. For more creativity, draw yellow lemons or a pitcher of lemonade on your sign.

4
Get change for customers ready before you open up your booth. Have plenty of quarters and dollar bills.
