Support from loved ones is crucial for soldiers.

Members of the military deployed overseas often rely on the love and support of their loved ones back home to help them get through their time away. Loved ones sometimes have trouble coming up with more ways to show their support, but there are many ways of doing so. Just remember to always ask your loved one what items are okay to send them before you mail anything overseas, since some items are forbidden.

Instructions

    • 1

Share your feelings with your loved one before he is deployed. Let it be known exactly how much you care about him and how proud you are of him for what he is doing for his country.

    • 2

Ask for a list of items your loved one would like sent to her and what items are okay to send.

    • 3

Send small care packages and letters often to let your loved one know you love him and are thinking about him. Send items from his wish list, as well as little surprises that you think he might like.

    • 4

Write letters about how things are going at home, local news and anything else you wish to share. Include updated pictures of family and friends and from events your loved one has had to miss, so that he feels like he is still a part of life back home.

    • 5

Enlist the help of family and friends to collect items to send to your loved one and other soldiers. Items that are normally welcomed include paper, envelopes, stamps, magazines, DVD's, snacks and games.

    • 6

Stay connected with your loved one through phone calls and email, if possible. If email is an option, send daily updates, along with a picture or two.
