Step 1
If you're prone to getting acne, wash your face up to twice a day with warm water and a mild soap that has acne-fighting agents, while gently massaging your face in circular motions. Also, wash your hair daily and keep it out of your face to prevent extra oils and dirt from clogging pores, avoid touching your face with your hands or leaning your face against an object that is touched or handled a lot, clean glasses and sunglasses regularly, and wash off any make-up before bed. For those who get acne on their bodies, avoid wearing tight clothes where the skin is unable to breathe and wash with an acne-fighting body soap or body wash like those made by Neutrogena. Note that moisturizing body washes can be acne-producing.

Step 2
Wear make-up and sunscreen that blocks UVA and UVB rays with an SPF of at least 15 to protect your skin from the sun. Tanning beds also damage skin and can age it, too, as does smoking.
