Things You'll Need:
- satin pillow cases
- satin scarfs
- satin material
- satin hats
-
Step 1
Sleep on satin pillowcases. When you are preparing for bed, make sure that you have put satin pillowcases on your pillows. Satin is a smooth fabric and it causes less stress on the hair than cotton.
-
Step 2
Use satin material inside your hats. If you are wearing hats, sometimes made out of wool or denim material, attach a piece of satin material inside to prevent extra stress which could lead to hair loss. You may also purchase satin hats which would eliminate the problem.
-
Step 3
Wear satin scarfs, for dress or for bed. As you dress and must have your coordinating scarf, be sure that it is made of satin as you fling it around your neck over your dress or coat. Also, as you relax for the evening, make sure that the scarf you wear to bed is also satin. Remember, satin does not promote hair loss; it impedes it.

on 1/16/2009 Everything you say here is true! Hair loss is a serious issue but it is not hopeless. If you want your hair to look and stay healthy, you need to be sleeping on a satin pillowcase. I had heard a lot about them from friends and also from my stylist. She told me that cotton causes friction leaving you with split ends and frizzes. It also is naturally absorbent so it pulls the moisture from your hair and skin. The combination of dried out hair along with weakened ends due to the friction that cotton creates is also one of the causes of hair loss. When sleeping on satin, your hair just glides across the top and doesn't get stuck in one spot like it does when sleeping on cotton. I switched to a satin pillowcase and I’ve seen a huge difference in my hair and also with my skin. I don’t wake up with those pillowcase lines on my face in the morning either. I found a website that has a page devoted
