It is important to eject your iPod before turning off your computer or removing the USB cord from the iPod. I will tell you how to do this very thing.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer w/USB Port
  • iPod Nano USB Cord

Once the iPod is attached to the iPod and USB port in the computer, an icon will appear at the bottom of the computer desktop. The icon is from removing the USB Mass Storage Device.

  2. Step 2

Now, click on the enject icon and it will show which drive the USB cord is attached to. My USB cord is attached to the O drive on my computer. Once the icon is clicked on, the iPod will show an arrow going down and reading "OK to disconnect". Once able to disconnect, the USB cord can be removed from iPod.

  3. Step 3

Another way to eject the iPod from USB cord is through iTunes. Once anything you want sync'd to your iPod is complete, a message will appear on the iPod reading, "OK to disconnect". Just like it did on the ejecting icon on your desktop.

  4. Step 4

Just remember, if you want to protect the iPod from any damage, it is always best to eject the iPod the proper way. This will save the iPod and any and all information already downloaded on it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never disconnect the iPod from the USB cord without properly ejecting it first
  • See above "Tip" for warning
