To dispose of your American Flag properly, I would suggest taking it to your local VFW, Elks Lodge, American Legion, Knights of Columbus or some local Boy and Girl Scout troops. They will make sure they flag is disposed of properly and that the disposal ceremony is conducted properly.

The way flags are being made now they can release toxic chemicals into the air when burned. So do not burn your flag, unless you know it is made out of wool or cotton. If it is made of cotton or wool you can burn the flag in a proper flag burning ceremony. Visit http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/flagetiq.html for the script to a proper flag burning eremony.
