In terms of sit-down food, it's quite difficult to find a meal around $10. The best bet is the kids menu at Blue Bayou (inside Pirates of Caribbean ride) which has seared salmon fliet, chicken breast with pasta and marinara, or roast new york steak with potatoes. The portion is pretty good and it's less thant $10. I also suggest regular meals at Carnation Cafe. They are all around $10 and they're adult meals. These would be good choices for dinners.

As for a more casual dish, I would highly recommend Royal Street Veranda in New Orleans Square with their bread bowl clam chowder or gumbo (both meat and vegetarian $8.99). It's quite filling! As for pizza, Red Rocket Pizza Port is good and for Mexican, Rancho Del Zocalo's Burrito Sonara ($10.49) is yummy. For hamburgers, it all is pretty much the same wherever you go.

In terms of "cheap" snacks. I really do want to say that there is none. Fruit cost at least $1.75, corn dog costs $5.80, and ice cream at Gibson Girl cost $5.49. Yikes! However, there are some snacks that may not be cheap that's worth the cost. Mint Julep from the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square costs $2.99 and it's quite refreshing. Also bakery treats from Blue Ribbon Bakery in Main Street has Mickey cookie ($2.99) and other goodies for around $2-$6.

Tips & Warnings

  • Every place will give you free water in a fountain cup if you ask for it. Bottled water costs extra though.

  • If you decide to eat in a Full Service restaurant and don't want to order kids size, you should split the meal. They are usually a very good portioned that two average people can eat and be satisfied.

  • It's quite common to see even the counter service meals to be almost $20 per person. Plan ahead so you will not be so surprised by the cost of the food.

  • Avoid the temptations from snack carts to buy a churro for $4, water for $2, and ice-cream for $3. Those costs add up!
