How to Remove Old or Unnecessary Programs from your Computer
If your computer is running slowly, or you keep getting error messages that a certain part of a program is missing, it may be because there are unnecessary or fragmented programs in your system. You can get rid of them, and in the process free up space on your computer. This is for Windows XP, but will work on most Windows operating systems.

1
First, click on start. In the menu that opens up you will see Control Panel. Click on Control Panel.
-
2
When Control Panel opens up, Click on Add or Remove Programs.
-
-
3
Wait while Windows loads the programs that are in your computer.
-
4
Scroll through the list. When you highlight something in the list, Windows will tell you how often you use the program.
-
5
If you have old games that you do not play, or older versions of programs you have updated, you will probably want to delete them to free up space.
-
6
There is the option to change or remove. If the program allows changes, when you click change, it will give you those options. If not, it will only go to uninstall. Just click remove to get rid of a program, and Windows will ask you if you are sure. If you are sure, click OK and your program will uninstall.
