Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper
  • Pencil or pen
  • Colored pencils
  1. Step 1

Start by drawing your rose vines with a nice curvy line. It can be as long and as curvy as you like. This is the base line for the rose vines.

  2. Step 2

The leaves go on next. How to draw a rose vine leaf, first start with a pronged shape as shown. You can vary the size of each, the more varied the better, experiment with shapes and lengths.

  3. Step 3

To each end of the lines, sketch a leaf. The leaves are done by making two curved lines, and then connect. Draw a line through the middle.

  4. Step 4

Fill your rose vine with sets of leaves, alternating on each side as shown. You can make it as full or as sparse as you like. Learning how to draw is about practicing and experimenting, so don't be afraid to be creative.

  5. Step 5

Finally we get to drawing the roses. For this rose vine, we will only be making half opened roses. To draw a rose, first start with a swirl. Make a small closed circle Like your making a cursive "e" .Bring it up and around, then close the line near the right side.

  6. Step 6

Next start at the bottom of the swirl, draw a big "U" connecting the top of the "U" to the first part you drew. Making this "U" different shapes and adding it higher on the swirl, you can make each rose look different.

  7. Step 7

Draw the last line, make a long "C" shape, connecting the line to the top of your "E" swirl and down to the bottom of your "U" shape.

  8. Step 8

Now draw these roses to your vine, alternating again between the leaves. Attach the rose with drawing a line and two small leaves at the base of the each flower.

  9. Step 9

Try drawing your rose vines in different mediums. The first picture is shown in colored pencil. I drew the example drawings with an ink pen. You can use paints, markers, even crayons if you like. Have fun with it! Soon you will find yourself drawing rose vines everywhere.
