Connect a Samsung Camcorder to Computer

If you want to connect your Samsung camcorder to your computer to import and edit your footage then this is all you'll need to know.

Instructions

Step 1

First make sure your computer and your camcorder are both on. In order to import footage into a program your camcorder should be in Play/Edit mode, it should not be able to record in this mode.
Step 2

Firewire Port

To connect your camera you must have a firewire cable, they are available for purchase at any electronics retailer like Best Buy, Circuit city or any Camera specialty store such as camera world. Plug the smaller four pin end of the cable into your camera. There should be a flap covering a string of connection ports, the small rectangle with a 'dent' dent in its side is the one you want.
Step 3

USB Port

Plug the other larger end of the cable into any USB port on your computer (on laptops it is along the side, with other computers it is generally on the backside). The USB port is rectangular with rounded corners.
Step 4

If your camera is turned on your computer should quickly recognize this connection. Now you are free to use whatever program you own to work with your footage!
