1
Build the tree, starting at the bottom and working your way up. Many trees come in three or four pieces that need to be snapped together, and it's easiest to put these together first.

2
If your tree needs individual branch assembly, build the the tree out by snapping the branches of varying size into the sides of the tree. Consult the directions for general rules regarding branch placement.

If your tree is pre-lighted, these strings of lights circling the tree will need to be plugged into each other. The directions included will be able to assist you in making sure you have the plugs fitting into the right places.

4
Have patience when fluffing out the branches of the tree. Having been in storage, often in a sealed box, for 11 months tends to smash, bend or other wise mangle the branches of your tree. You might think that they will never bounce back, but if you take the time to spread them out and work with them, they can generally look as good as new.

5
Consider using wire as a way to anchor your tree to the floor or wall, so as to ensure that it does not fall over. This extra assurance will boost your confidence that all your hard decorating work will remain intact throughout the holiday season and not risk and tree-toppling accidents.
