Have you ever began a recipe only to realize it calls for something you don't happen to have. Sure you have, we all have. If the item your missing is condensed milk I have a sustitution for you. Or maybe you would just like a cheaper alternative to the usual storebought can of condensed milk, either way I have your solution.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 C water
  • 1 C sugar
  • 3 Tbsp margarine or butter
  • Dash of salt
  1. Step 1

Gather ingredients to make the equivalent of one can of condensed milk. You will need 1/2 cup water, 1 Cup of sugar, 3 Tbsps of margarine or butter, and a dash of salt.

  2. Step 2

On the stove bring water, sugar, and margarine or butter to a boil.

  3. Step 3

    Add a dash of salt.

  4. Step 4

Use a whisk to smooth the texture of your mixture.

  5. Step 5

You have just made the equivalent of one can of condensed milk in less time than it would have taken you to run to the store. You can use this imediately or you can store this in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure to use a whisk and not a fork as it will produce a smoother texture.
