Things You'll Need:
- Patience

Step 1
First determine what you are willing to spend before you start to bargain with a vendor. Be somewhat flexible if you can. Most vendors work for a commission and they will drop their prices significantly if you are willing to bargain with them.

Step 2
Vendors in Mexico are very good salesman. They always tell you the highest possible price they think you may be willing to pay. Then if you tell them it is too much they will ask you to name your price. I always lowball them but not too low. They will then ask for a lot more. This is when you say no thanks and walk away. They will stop you and drop the price. If it is still not to your liking tell them that it is more than you have to spend. And say “thank you, I will think about it.” Leave for a few minutes then casually stroll by and act uninterested. They will try to stop you and ask if you want to buy it now. Say “no, it is too much.” They will usually drop the price one more time. If you are happy with the price this is probably the best time to buy. This may be the end of the bargaining game.

Step 3
I used this very technique to buy a bracelet for my wife. I was able to barter the price down from seven hundred dollars to one hundred and eighty dollars. That is a savings of over six hundred dollars. Talk about a price reduction. Always be willing to walk away no matter what. You will probably find the same item in another store. I hope this will help you to Bargain in Mexico.
