Things You'll Need:
- An online connection
- Courage to not be shy
-
Step 1
Go to Meetup.com. This is an excellent site to find groups in your area. The users of this site are the ones that create the groups. You can find groups for movie buffs, bible study, foreign language and almost every hobby or interest you can imagine. If you can't find a meetup that interests you, you can make your own. Each group meets once a week or once a month, giving you many options on how to spend your evenings.
-
Step 2
Not looking for group to join? Try Meetin.org. This is a good way to meet many individuals. Here, people host events that are meant for people to mingle and meet one another. This is a terrific website as their are always many gatherings to choose from. This can range from seeing a local sports game to a happy hour to a card game.
-
Step 3
Do a Google search for things you're interested in your area. If you like flag football and live in Seattle, try "Flag Football Seattle". You're bound to find a few groups or activities that you'll like. Side note: Flag football is an excellent way to meet people in a new city, there's tons of leagues, it's good exercise, and almost everyone goes out after the game.
-
Step 4
Check Craig's List. I recommend the events section. Here, you can find people announcing happy hours or gatherings. Many of them are just people new to the area trying to meet others. Also, Craig's List has a ton of listings for book clubs, sports teams, and other easy ways to meet people.
