Living in Texas I used to get burned alot not using protective sunscreens. I have since learned how to treat my burns with home remedies. I hope you find some helpful.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

After being sunburned you have severe aches, pains, itchy skin, and swelling. Aspirin or Tylenol can help relieve these symptoms by taking 2 tablets every 4 hours. If your stomach can handle Ibuprofen, you can take 2-3 tablets every 8 hours. That will start to relieve your discomfort.

  2. Step 2

Cold water can be used from the faucet or you may add a few ice cubes to help inflamed skin. Dip the cloth into the water and lay over the burned areas. Apply to skin several times a day not exceeding 15 minutes a time.

  3. Step 3

Skim Milk can also be used to soothe skin. Use a mixture of 1 cup of skim milk to 4 cups of water. (ice cubes may be added for addition comfort) This may be done in a bath tub or you can sponge solution over burned areas every 2-4 hours for no longer than 20 minutes at a time.

  4. Step 4

Oatmeal wraps can also help sooth a burn. Place dried oatmeal in a gauze or cheesecloth, close and run cool water through it catching the water in a bowl. Discard the oatmeal and dip the compresses in the liquid which may be used every 2-4 hours.

  5. Step 5

Witch Hazel is another remedy for a sunburn. Moisten a cloth with Witch Hazel and dab over burned areas. You may also use cotton swabs or q-tips to apply and relieve discomfort.

  6. Step 6

Baking soda will also help relieve pain. Sprinkle 1/2 cup into bath water and soak. When getting out do not dry off. Let it dry on your skin.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember you may use a cotton swab or q-tip to apply solutions to small areas
  • Always remember to wear sunscreen to protect your skin
