Avoiding high calories foods and substituting them with healthier choices will help any diet. Here are some high calorie foods to avoid.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Chocolate. I love it. You love it. But chocolate has a lot of calories even in little amounts. How does 210 calories in one milk chocolate bar with over half of those calories from fat! Substitution: a protein bar. Pick up one with chocolate so you can still have your fix!

  2. Step 2

Ice cream. All flavors. One 4oz. scoop of Baskin Robbins vanilla ice cream has a whopping 260 calories! Try low fat yogurt instead (150 calories for those same 4oz.). You won’t be able to tell the difference, trust me, and you just saved over 100 calories!

  3. Step 3

Potato chips. Salty goodness. 155 calories (95 from fat) in 1 oz.) Try reduce fat or low calorie varieties. Reduce fat varieties can have just 53 calories from fat, that’s nearly half!

  4. Step 4

Milkshake. (350 calories) Make one with skim milk or 1% milk and low fat yogurt instead of ice cream. Or try a powder protein shake (120).

  5. Step 5

Soda. Make your own soda substituting by combining 100% juice with sparkling water.

  6. Step 6

Avoid or at least limit alcohol. It has so many empty calories. Drink water or sugar free juices instead or try that homemade soda.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you can't live without one of these foods, eat it in moderation.
