Learning "how to" do something new with an item you have used half of your life is both exhilarating and baffling! I discovered how to scroll web pages or documents hands free, today! I'll explain the "How to" and you can find a plethora of practical ways to use it!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • P.C. Mouse
  • Web Page
  • Document
  • "Fast Twitch" muscle fiber control
  1. Step 1
Sheet Music and Lyrics (My favorite pages to Scroll hands free)

Sheet Music and Lyrics (My favorite pages to Scroll hands free)

Find any document or web page on your computer that would require you to 'Scroll' (move) Up or Down or Sideways, to see all the information available. You can scroll (hands free) THIS Article right now and see the possibilities that will avail themselves to you!

  2. Step 2
You can see the Scroll button on the Mouse ( between the left and right Click pads. )

Use the mouse as you would normally and place the cursor on the page where you would like to use this technique. Using the same finger that you CLICK and manually SCROLL the mouse with... 'Push Down' on the Scroll button in the middle of the mouse and release immediately.

Now that the Cursor is placed, you can see a small Circle (less than the size of a dime) Inside that circle is an UP Arrow and a Down arrow. On pages that are too wide for the screen, there will also be a Left and Right Arrow inside the circle. Stay close to this circle for orientation purposes and go to the next step please.

  4. Step 4
    More Music Pages...

    More Music Pages...

Now that you have the button pushed down on the Mouse and the 'Circle with Arrows' appears... Move the Mouse Up or Down or Sideways on the pad! Kinda shove the mouse slowly upwards or pull the mouse downward slowly and you will see the Page start to Scroll on it's own! How fast or slow you 'hands free' Scroll, is determined by the Speed you move the mouse intially after pushing the Scroll button down.

  5. Step 5
End of the Trail scene friends!

End of the Trail scene friends!

In my case, I want to Scroll 'hands free,' the music on the page that I am playing. I usually drag the mouse down slowly so that the page is scrolling at a slow pace, So I can keep up with the songs tempo and the lyrics are moving down the page at the same rate I'm playing and singing. When you want the scrolling to stop, simply left click the mouse and the Page stops completely! How Cool is That?

Tips & Warnings
  • Try this Now, it works on most anything.
  • Scroll as slowly as possible by dragging the mouse sloooowly down and then removing your hand.
  • Scroll at a faster pace by dragging the mouse faster at first, to get it moving, then let go.
  • Don't speed up your reading (unless you are trying to) and don't try and play a song faster because of the scrolling speed... Set the scrolling Pace with the mouse button and the initial push of the mouse!

on 12/4/2009 Very interesting piece! I play guitar and I hate having to click down to see more of the tab. I'll be playing for friends and showing them something I just learned and half way through the song I'll have to stop and say "hold on let me scroll down". lol. Nice work!
