It seems like they are comming out with a new Bible every day. From King James Version (KJV) to New International Version (NIV) to New Living Translation (NLT) it can be very confusing. Most people say that all of these Bibles are actually saying the same thing. Fact is, that the newer, copyrighted versions sometimes don't even come close to the original. Here's an easy way to compare the Bibles verse by verse.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet
  1. Step 1

Go to www.biblegateway.com there is a direct link to this website in the resources section of this article.

  2. Step 2

On the left hand side of the homepage, there is a menu column. Click on "Passage Lookup."

  3. Step 3

Type in the passage or verse of scripture that you want to look up. But before you click search, look at the version selector. There is a link below the version selector that says "Lookup passage in mulitple versions." Click this link.

  4. Step 4

More drop-down options will appear with the different Bible versions available for search. Just select as many different versions as you want to compare.

  5. Step 5

Go ahead and click the Lookup Passage button.

  6. Step 6

The passage will be displayed in each version and appear on your screen as rows. If you want to compare side by side, you can click on the "Columns" button to sort them into columns.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is very interesting to study the differences in Bible translations. This is always a good idea to investigate the claim that the new versions are saying the same thing as the traditional King James.

on 1/9/2009 Good article. I still love the reverent poetic sound of the KJV. Especially for the Birth of Christ in Mathew and Luke.
