Things You'll Need:
- a computer
- an internet connection
- time and patience to get the ball rolling
-
Step 1
One of the easiest ways to get your students to use technology is to get them to blog online. Students can work on their writing, spelling, grammar, and communication skills while meeting many of the state and national standards. A great place to start is Edublogs.org. They offer free or low cost blogs for teachers and students. The blogs can be used for original writing, answering and responding to questions, or whatever creative assignment you can come up with.
-
Step 2
Another great technology to use is a wiki. Check out Wikispaces.com to start one. You could have students go on the wiki to update information about your subject.
-
Step 3
One final suggestion, but this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to technology, is to create a social network for your class. Go to Ning.com. Once you have an account, students can post to forums, blog, and communicate with each other to share knowledge.
-
Step 4
One of the best ways for students to learn is by seeing their teacher lead by example. Start your own blog!
