Palm Pilots have been the PDA of choice for 10 years. The ability to have a wealth of information in your hand has made these devices indispensible for many. The ability to have your email at hand makes Palm Pilots even more valuable. VersaMail software allows any Palm Pilot to use email without Wi-Fi or a direct Internet connection. This tutorial will teach you the basics of getting email on a Palm Pilot.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Palm Pilot
  • Versa Mail software
  • Your Computer
  1. Step 1

Install VersaMail on your Palm Pilot. You can find the software on the CD that came with your Palm, or download it from Palm.com. Unzip the file on your computer and double click on the PRC file to add it to your quick install application. Synch the Palm Pilot with your computer.

  2. Step 2

Open VersaMail on your laptop and tap Menu, then select Accounts, then Accounts Setup. Tap the New button. In the next window, enter a name for the account in the Account Name box.

  3. Step 3

Tap the Mail Service menu and select Other. Select the type of email server you are synching with, POP3 or IMAP. Tap Next.

  4. Step 4

In the Username box, enter your email address. Make sure you enter the entire address, including username @ and the domain name. Tap Password and enter your email password. Make sure the case is correct. Tap Next.

Note that the software has already entered your email address. Make sure it is correct and in lower case. Enter the name of your mail server in the Incoming Mail Server Box. Enter your outgoing SMTP email server name in the Outgoing Mail Server box. Tap Done.

  6. Step 6

Your Palm Pilot is now set up to synch your email with your laptop. You can read and compose email on the Palm Pilot, and the next time you synch, your email will be sent via your normal email client.
