Voice Over Talent Needs an Agent

If you are getting into the business of voice overs, also know as voice acting, you will see an immediate need for an agent. This individual is one who knows the ropes and can get your demo reel into the hands of those producers looking for people to voice over television, radio and other commercial products. Here's how to find your voice over agent.

Instructions

    • 1

Start by researching the current successful voice over actors and see who their agents are. Voice over actors are in a league of their own and when one gets parts, that means their agent knows the ropes. This information can be found quickly at imdb.com

Get a copy of the Hollywood Reporter and start researching who is doing what and where. This will give you agents and agencies that are catering to the current voice over needs. At that point you can professionally solicit them and know they are legit.

    • 3

Get out your computer and start searching online. The problem with looking online is you may find people who are in the business, but on the sideline. Or folks who just claim to be in the voice over agent business. Make sure you check these people out thoroughly.

Find yourself at the Samual French bookstore and get the most current list of agents. This list, sold exclusively at the bookstore, is an up-to-date list that includes all agents looking for clients, including voice over actors.

    • 5

Forget the idea of getting a voice over agent and start submitting your demo yourself. While it is a competitive market, it is possible to really catch a break in voice over acting compared to other jobs in the acting business.

Tips & Warnings

  • Usually agents represent a minimum of 10 to 15 voice over actors at any given time.
