If you want to know how to have a blog, you already know how to have a blog. Anyone can do it and it is extremely easy because you can blog about anything you want and there are no rules as to who or what you can talk about in your blog. Still, there are some 'industry standard' concepts to understand before you create a blog. The following article will detail how to have a blog.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Create a blog. This can be done on a number of difference sites or on your own website. Free blogs can be found on Wordpress.com, blogger.com or on today.com. All the sites offer different programs and features as well as different ways to monetize your blog. You can also download Wordpress from Wordpress.org and create a blog on your own domain.

  2. Step 2

Create a blog page. This is a static page that does not have an important date attached to it. Common uses are an about page or a contact page. Many people also set up an affiliates page. The page function of a blog can really serve any purpose you as the blogger desires.

  3. Step 3

Create a blog post. These are your regular every day posts. Your posts should be themed in some way. You could have a humor blog or a religion blog for example. You should also post at least four times a week, however some post up to four times a day. If you post more often, your posts can be less, however the best posts range from 350-700 words in length. That's a guideline not a rule.

  4. Step 4

Create a blog roll or list. These are, just like they sound, lists of links. Often you will choose to cross link with another blog of similar content so that your following will be able to enjoy more material.

  5. Step 5

Create a blog feed. You can operate an Atom or RSS feed with most blogging platforms. This allows people to subscribe to your blog so that they know when there are updates to your material.
