Nothing sounds as sweet, deep, and mellow as a Martin Guitar. Just ask Paul Simon, Sting, Steve Miller, Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, and and Jimmy Buffet. They all own one! You too can own a Martin if you know where look.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

FIND A MARTIN DEALER IN YOUR AREA. You can locate a dealer by visiting Martin's website. See Below for the link to Martin's dealer locator.

  2. Step 2

FIND THE MODEL RIGHT FOR YOU. Martin has guitars for any level of player. Beginning with the 'X-Series' ($399), to a higher end guitar like the Standard 000-28 ($3,300), to which Eric Clapton said, 'it's the best acoustic guitar I've ever played.' Your biggest challenge will be finding one that suits you. Visting your local Martin dealer will help with this process.

  3. Step 3

PLAY EACH MODEL. Most dealers have a special room for Martin guitars. You will be allowed to sit down and play each one. It is very important to follow their rules about handling their Martins. Take notes as to which models sound and feel the best to you. Also, keep in mind the price tag!

  4. Step 4

LOOK FOR A BARGAIN. Most dealer prices are fair. But it NEVER hurts to look for a bargain. Too often people sell their dad's or grandpa's old guitar without realizing what they've got. Unlike buying a car, Martin guitars appreciate (rise in value) over time. Sometimes you'll find these people practically giving their Martin's away. If you find such a deal, jump on it! A good place to start is craigslist or ebay. Watch for Martin sales each week. Make contact with the owners and ask lots of questions. Compare their price with new ones. Who knows, you may uncover a valuable treasure.

Tips & Warnings
  • A good guitar case is the life of your guitar!
  • Never let just anyone play or handle your Martin!
