Dressed (rubbed with oil) candles can be used for a wide variety of personal, religious, and spiritual ceremonies and rituals. It's easy to create your own oils for those rituals. All you need are a few tools and a place to store the bottle

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Oil- I suggest Virgin Olive Oil
  • or you can use dipropylene glycol
  • 2-4 oz Bottle with a stopper, cork or lid
  • Assorted herbs, flowers, leaves, and/or mixtures
  • mortar and pestle
  • cheesecloth
  1. Step 1

Using the mortar and pestle, grind the herbs, dried flowers or mixture of your choice into a rough powder. Whole herbs and flowers can be used but ground herbs take less infusing time.

  2. Step 2

Slowly add 2-3 oz of oil to the herbs and stir. Pour into the bottle.

  3. Step 3

Store the bottle in a dark place for 3 days. After 3 days, check the bottle. If the scent has infused enough then you're done. Otherwise strain the herbs out of the oil with the cheesecloth and add fresh.

  4. Step 4

Keep the bottle in the dark for 3 days. Check again. Repeat the previous steps until the oil had acheived the desired scent strength. Once the scent is to your pleasure, strain the oil one final time and store in a cool dark place.

  5. Step 5

    Happy Heart Oil-

Said to attract happiness and good vibrations

2 Tablespoons wisteria flowers to 2 oz oil

  6. Step 6

    Basic oil for many rituals-

2 Tablespoons sandlewood to 2 oz oil

Tips & Warnings
  • When dressing the candle, apply oil to the center then rub up to the wick and down to the bottom
  • Herbs can be found at some local health food stores, metaphysical stores or online through various sources
  • Do NOT ingest these oils
  • Not designed to treat any condition
