Step 1
Where to have the kitchen: ask at churches and community centers. Tell them you and your helpers will do all the work and will leave the place clean. Commit to only as much time as yo are sure you can handle. One day a week is better than no days a week and might be the only decent meal some people will get all week.
-
Step 2
Where to get the food: Ask for food drives at churches and public places. See if you can set a box for collections. Ask at local grocery stores and restaurants for food ready to expire.
-
Step 3
What to serve: the type of food you collect will determine what you prepare. Generally soups and stews are good because you can put many different things together. Bread is usually readily available.
-
Step 4
If you have a generous benefactor, make up baggies of trail mix to send with the people. They will have a little something to eat later. High in calories, protein and sugar, trail mix is easy to make.

Step 5
If you can't find a location where you can serve the people, prepare the food in a donated kitchen and bring it to the people. Sandwiches, cookies, and trail mix are good choices.
