Things You'll Need:
-
Step 1
The most important thing before buying a computer monitor is to know your computer operating system and what you'll be using your monitor for.
-
Step 2
If you are buying a new computer, your new flat screen monitor may actually be thrown in for free. Check around for package deals like this. You will probably get the best deal this way.
-
Step 3
Use the internet to search the best price on the flat screen monitors before walking into a store. Some stores actually have better prices online than they do inside the store! Unbelievable but true. To make the deal even sweeter, some of these online stores actually have free shipping!
-
Step 4
Check all the online coupon sites for discount coupons that can be used in stores and online. You never know what you might find. Also, get the Sunday paper and check for special deals and coupons that you may not be able to find anywhere else.
-
Step 5
Haggle in the store. Retail stores are desperate to make sales and will sell computer products and accessories for a great price. Remember, your sales person's paycheck directly reflects his or her sales so use that to your advantage! If you are buying more than one product from the store, your sales person may be more likely to throw in something for free.
-
Step 6
Some stores will give you a discount if you get their credit card. The only way this discount will actually save you money is if you pay your balance in full. If you don't pay off that balance immediately, you've lost your discount and may actually wind up paying more for it! If you have good credit, that is great. If you have bad credit or no credit, you may not be eligible for a store credit card.
-
Step 7
When buying at a store, be sure to know how much the monitor and all of the flat screen monitor accessories will cost at other stores even if they are not in the area. Why? Because some stores actually have a policy where they will match or beat any advertised price. Some stores will even have a policy that if you find it cheaper anywhere else after you purchase it, it is free! Yep, can you imagine that one!
-
Step 8
Be sure to check out eBay and Craigslist for computer monitors as well. You may find fantastic deals. The down side to one of these purchases is that you may not be able to return the product if it is defective. Read the fine print carefully!
