The tater tot casserole is like every midwinter comfort food thrown into one dish. With meat, several kinds of veggies, cheese and the tots, it's full of flavor (and fat). This is fun potluck dish or no-fuss dinner, and the leftovers hold up pretty well in the fridge for a day or two. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Skillet
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 can mixed veggies
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 can corn
  • 1 can cream of celery soup
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 cups shredded mild cheddar cheese
  • 1 package tater tots
  • Casserole dish

Instructions

    • 1

      Brown the ground beef and chopped onion in a deep skillet.

      Add the canned veggies and corn (drain them first), and the cream of celery and cream of mushroom soups. Stir well.

      Cook on medium heat until the mixture is hot all the way through.

      In a 9-inch-by-13-inch casserole dish, put down an even layer of tater tots.

      Pour the meat mixture over the tater tots.

      Add another layer of tater tots, and sprinkle the top with cheddar cheese.

      Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 40 minutes.

Tips & Warnings

  • When done baking, the tater tots should be a brownish color.
