Things You'll Need:
- Dress clothes
-
Step 1
Choose the style of dress socks you need. The most common styles are crew and over the calf. The over the calf style is for a dressier situation with a suit and tie. Weddings, black tie events, and dressy business meetings grant this style. Crew is for a more relaxed atmosphere. Perhaps you're playing golf at an up-scale course.

Step 2
Consider your health conditions. If you have poor circulation, or if you stand on your feet all day long, perhaps the best dress socks are compression socks. These hold firmly to your leg and support your muscles and blood vessels.
-
Step 3
Choose your color wisely. Unless you have white, blue, or brown pants, black dress socks go with just about everything. You should have more black than any other color. If you wear white, blue, or brown, make sure you have corresponding dress socks.
