You may not own a business, but you may still need to hand out your contact information. Creating a unique and personalized cards isn't that hard or expensive!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cardstock or pre-perfferated business card paper
  • Computer
  • Inkjet Printer
  • Any image files you may want to include
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  1. Step 1

When creating a personal business card, you want it to be unique to your personality/lifestyle. Start by taking a few things into consideration: who do you normally give your contact information to, this will help you determine the formality of the card. In addition to the audience, WHY do you give your contact info out; do you sell artwork, offer services, etc., this will provide you with a theme.

  2. Step 2

You can start with a pre-made template (when you by pre-cut business card paper, it has a template for Microsoft Word)or you can create your own template. Since these are your cards, and they represent you, you can make them any size and shape really. Standard sizing is 3.25in x 2in though.

  3. Step 3

Your design can be a front and back, or just a front. If you choose to use both sides, you can just create the front design and print, then create the back design in a separate file and print that on the back of the card.

  4. Step 4

Now for the actual design, try to incorporate what it is you do. If you are an artist use a small image of your best work, if you offer house-cleaning try using cleaning clip art! Make your font themed too! With the numerous choices of font these days, you can easily find one that compliments your theme! Try to keep the color scheme that you use to a three-color minimum though, you don't want an overwhelming card.

  5. Step 5

If however, you simply want all of your contact information on one piece of paper that you can hand out to anyone, you should keep it simple. Use simple and un-themed font, also try to keep the colors to one or two at most. This way you can keep your information handy and professional in appearance!
