Step 1
*Cost* Determine how much each square will cost. There are typically 100 squares on a football squares pool, of course this includes the Super Bowl as well. The cost can be anywhere from $1 and up. $5 to $10 seems to be the average for my area. The cost of the squares will determine the prize money given out.
-
Step 2
Squares sheet example*Draw* A football squares pool is a grid of ten square blocks across and ten square blocks down. The two Super Bowl teams are listed on the top and down the left hand side. Which team is where does not matter.
-
Step 3
*Numbers* This is the best way determine the placement of the ten numbers of top and side squares. Using a deck of cards, separate the Ace thru 10 cards out. With a witness to keep things fair. Shuffle the ten cards. Starting from left to right, the first card is the first number above the first square. The second card is the second number above the second square, etc. The same process is repeated for the squares running vertically.
-
Step 4
*Sell* Now that the numbers are picked, it is time to sell the squares. Have each person pick a square and put there name in that square. If you are at work where this could be frowned upon, use code names, your pet's name, nickname, etc. At my place of employment, we use first names and last initial.
-
Step 5
*Scoring* The numbers represented on the squares are single digit. If the score is a double digit, the square number is the second number. For example, you have the number 7, this represents 7, 17, 27, etc.
-
Step 6
*Prizes* Depending on how much you charge per square will determine the total collected. 100 squares total. Of the total collected, 50% of the total is given out for the final score. 10% of the total goes to the winner of the first and third quarters scores. 30% of the total goes to the winner of the half time score.
