Things You'll Need:
- Good Laptop Carry Bag
- Simple Precautions
-
Step 1
Keep your laptop in a good travel bag to prevent it from shocks and other damages. A good backpack with padded pouch in it is nice to have during travel. It is easy to carry apart for being less likely to be left behind or stolen. Before bagging your laptop, make sure that it is turned off.
-
Step 2
Note down your laptop details, such as serial number, model and customer service number of laptop's manufacturer.
-
Step 3
Put a label on your laptop with your name, e-mail, cell phone or other contact details. Sticking your business card should do as well. This would be very helpful in any unforeseen situation when you lose your laptop and it ends up with a responsible person.
-
Step 4
Never let your laptop get out of sight even for a few minutes. If you have to use the facilities in an airport, take your laptop bag with you. While waiting make sure to strap the laptop bag with your arm in case you fall asleep.
-
Step 5
Always carry your laptop in your carry-on baggage and not put it in the check-in baggage. Checking-in most likely will result into it being damaged or stolen.
-
Step 6
During security checking wait to put your laptop on conveyer until the last moment, keep an eye on it when it comes out the other side. Pick it first as you reach to other side.
-
Step 7
Keep the screen of your laptop in such a way that people around cannot see or read what is being displayed on it. Reduce the font sizes if needed so that other people cannot read it.
-
Step 8
Charge the battery to full before starting the travel. Keep a spare battery if possible. If you are travelling to another country, make sure to have right kind of adapter. Different countries use different voltages. Find out if your laptop can work with that voltage or you need a voltage converter.
-
Step 9
Inside airplane, do not let your laptop to extend out into the aisle. As people keep walking through it and flight attendants push cart in it.
-
Step 10
Close the lid of your laptop while flight attendants serve food or drinks. They try very hard to avoid spills, but it happens. Closing your laptop will help minimize the chance of damage. Do not eat or drink while working on your laptop.
