Add a Glass Panel to a Cabinet

In this how to I will tell you how you can add a decorative glass panel to a cabinet door to make it more interesting and stylish.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • reciprocating saw
  • glass panels
  • pencil (for tracing)
  • metal braces
  • picture frame molding
  1. Step 1

Remove the door and decide on the placement of your panel.

  2. Step 2

Lay the panel and door on the floor and trace around the panel.

  3. Step 3

Use a reciprocating saw to cut out the area you traced for the panel on the door and carefully remove the panel from the door.

  4. Step 4

Put the decorative panel inside the hole in the door. The panel will be a little smaller than the hole you made.

  5. Step 5

Attach the picture frame molding to the backside of the door with the metal braces. Put one in each corner and one in the middle of each side.

  6. Step 6

At this point, you will need to paint the door if you need to and allow the paint to dry.

  7. Step 7

Put the panel into the opening you made in the door. Your panel should fit snugly now.

  8. Step 8

Use metal braces to hold panel in place attaching them on the backside of the door as you did previously.

  9. Step 9

Your door is done. Reinstall it and admire your work.
