This is a much simpler task than many believe. The primary concern is safety. Do it right and you will be warm when you need it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Matches or
  • Fire Lighter
  1. Step 1

Generally speaking the fireplace will have a burner attached via flex tube or hard pipe to a propane tank. The sequence is simple. Inspect for foreign objects in the fireplace, look for leaks or damage to the propane line. Make sure there is sufficient fuel to handle the expected burn time.

  2. Step 2

Once you are ready to go open the fuel tank /supply line just a little.
Using either a spark type ignition or a wooden match introduce the flame to the escaping gas on the fireplace grate. Poof, you have a fire. Be sure to then turn the gas up or down according to your needs

  3. Step 3

Remember, fires are dangerous and should not be left unattended. If anything appears wrong with the fire like bigger than expected flames or flames where they shouldn't be, quickly turn off the fuel supply.

Tips & Warnings
  • My trick is to always use a spark gun to start the fireplace. They are long which means your vital parts are further away than a match. You can coordinate turning on the fuel and clicking the starter to minimize flare ups .
