How to Apply Sunless Tanners

Sunless tanners are a great alternative to tanning naturally under the sun. With sunless tanners there is no danger of skin cancer or other negative effects such as premature aging caused by natural tanning. Thanks to many advances in the development of sunless tanners, application of the lotion has become much easier and the overall look provided by the tanner is much more natural. Things You'll Need

• Exfoliating scrub
• Moisturizing body lotion
• Sunless tanner
• Disposable gloves

Instructions

1. Before you begin, make sure any excess body hair that you commonly remove is shaved or waxed off. This will make the tanner apply more smoothly. Also, any shaving done after application will cause the tanner to come off.

2. While taking a shower or bath, use an exfoliating scrub to remove dead skin cells and surface bumps from your skin. The buildup of dead skin cells will cause the tanner to look uneven and streaky.

3. Apply a mild moisturizing lotion all over your body to soften the skin after exfoliation. A thin layer of moisturizer will enable the tanner to adhere more effectively to the skin.

4. Put on the disposable gloves and squeeze a quarter-sized amount of sunless tanner into the palm of your hand.

5. Using a circular motion, gently massage the sunless tanner all over your body. Use less tanner on areas such as the elbows and knees. You may want someone to help you apply the tanner on hard-to-reach areas such as your back.

Tips & Warnings

• Allow the tanner a few hours to fully develop.

• If you're not using disposable gloves to apply the tanner, make sure to wash your hands with soap and water afterward.
