Sick of your dog refusing to give up toys, bones, or various delicious objects? Look no further.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Your dog
  • a ball/toy that they are partial to, and don't want you to have
  1. Step 1

Throw the ball, or whatever it takes for him to grab it.

  2. Step 2

Walk up to him or call him back to you, whatever floats your boat.

  3. Step 3

Say "give" and put your hand under his mouth. Of course he won't give it the first time, so firmly take it away.

  4. Step 4

Repeat the above until he drops the ball into your hand, after which you praise him warmly or give him a treat, whichever your heart desires.

  5. Step 5

Be consistent in rewarding him when he gives the ball to you, and taking it away when he doesn't.

  6. Step 6

Repeat with different objects until he fully understands the concept. Soon you will be able to simply hold your hand under his mouth and he will obligingly drop it in.

  7. Step 7

    * Consistency is key
    * It helps if your dog already obeys you and won't fight for the ball
    * Don't try this if your dog is like those on Dog Whisperer- it might backfire
