Thanks to my husband's observant ways we have saved money at the grocery store by getting good buys an using coupons and by avoiding getting ripped off because of cash register or cashiers errors. He has saved us at least ten dollars this past month because of mistakes at the cash register alone. Average that out and it comes to $120.00 a year. That is a lot of money to waste. His money saving tips are well worth checking out. (pardon the pun)

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1
Know what is on sale to save.
Know what is on sale to save.

First thing to do upon entering the grocery store is to make sure you have a copy of their weekly sales flier with you. This is usually located in the front of the store and it will have coupons and contain other money saving tips. It will remind you to check out the sale items and aid in your effort to save money at the grocery story.

  2. Step 2
    Cut Grocery costs on Meat
    Cut Grocery costs on Meat

Another Money saving tip is to look at the meat price tags carefully as you often get a discount on meat that is close to its sell by date. You can take it home to freeze it. This is another way to save money at the grocery store plus have extra meat on hand.

  3. Step 3

Money saving tip number 3 is when you get to the checkout try to keep tabs as the cashier rings up your items . Your would be amazed at the number of times they do not give you money off for a coupon or omit to ring up the sale price due to the fact is not programmed in to their register, or they mistakenly ring an item up twice. This tip of checking the cashier can be the most important step in your effort to save money on groceries. My husband finds discrepancies in the bill more often than you would think. If you have a hard time checking as the cashier rings up your items, Check your receipt before you leave the store.
