Your eHow profile page is your introduction to the world. It's also a great place to promote your writing on the web, your website, your blog and your favorite eHow articles.
You can promote your blog, website or feature your own eHow articles by inserting basic HTML code into your profile text. It's actually quite easy - something that all eHow writers can do!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Computer
  • An Internet Connection
  • An eHow Account
  • Articles, a Blog, a Website or eHow Articles that You'd Like to Feature in Your eHow Profile With a Link!
  1. Step 1

LOG INTO YOUR eHOW ACCOUNT: First, you'll need to log into your eHow account. So visit the eHow sign in page and enter your username and password, then click "sign in."

  2. Step 2

CLICK ON THE "EDIT PROFILE" LINK: Once you're signed in to your eHow account, you'll be taken to your main member page. Under your photograph (also called an "avatar"), there is a "Profile" section with several links. One of the links says "edit profile." Click on the "edit profile" link.

  3. Step 3

FIND "THE MORE ABOUT ME" BOX: Once you're on the profile editing page, scroll down to the text box that says "More About Me." This is where you will enter your HTML to create links in your eHow profile.

  4. Step 4
This is the HTML code to create a link.

This is the HTML code to create a link.

ADD IN THE HTML CODE FOR LINKS: You will need to add in the HTML code in the location where you'd like the link to appear in your eHow profile's "more about me" section. See the accompanying photo for the HTML code that you will need to enter for a link (click on the photo to enlarge it).

  5. Step 5

INSERT THE URL INTO THE HTML CODE FOR THE LINK: Where it says "URL HERE" in the HTML code, you'll copy and paste the URL of the webpage that you want to link to. Be sure to leave the quotes in place - the quotes must be there in order for the link to work.

  6. Step 6

INSERT THE ANCHOR TEXT INTO THE HTML CODE FOR THE LINK: Where it says "ANCHOR TEXT" you'll want to type the text that you'd like to turn into a link. If you're creating a link to feature an eHow article, you may want to type your article title here. If you're creating a link to a website or blog, you'll want to use the blog name or website name.

  7. Step 7

SAVE THE CHANGES TO YOUR PROFILE AND VISIT THE PAGE: Once you're done, save the changes by clicking the appropriate button at the bottom of the page (just below the "more about me" text editor box). Then, view your new and improved eHow profile page and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Always use anchor text! Exposed URLs (a complete URL appearing on the page as a link instead of using a title or "click here" as anchor text) are not favored by search engines like Google and this can harm a web page's rank and performance in search engine results.
  • Don't go nuts with adding links and text! You're limited to 200 words in your "more about me" section on your eHow profile page.
