Mesothelioma, a form of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos, can be difficult to diagnosis and treat. Finding the proper Mesothelioma treatment in a timely manner can be a matter of life and death. Settling for sub-standard treatment and care for Mesothelioma should not have be option.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Ask your primary care physician for a referral to a mesothelioma specialist. Your primary care physician can be a wealth of knowledge when it comes to finding a Mesothelioma specialist. Explain your need to see a Mesothelioma specialist instead of a general oncologist.

  2. Step 2

Ask your mesothelioma attorney for a referral to a mesothelioma specialist. Your Mesothelioma attorney should have information about Mesothelioma specialists in your area. Some Mesothelioma attorneys may work closely with those doctors to make sure their clients get the proper settlements, including punitive damages.

  3. Step 3

Ask others with mesothelioma about their mesothelioma specialist. Visit, if not join, a Mesothelioma support group. Feel free to pick their brains about the Mesothelioma doctors they use. Ask about the Mesothelioma doctor's they won't use as well. That information can help narrow down you list of Mesothelioma specialists.

  4. Step 4

Speak with an oncologist. Oncologists may work closely with one another. Because of this, they may be able to get you in touch with a Mesothelioma specialist. Express how you feel it is necessary to you to have a Mesothelioma, not just for proper treatment, but also in the court battle you may have ahead of you.

  5. Step 5

Look in your local phone book and online for a Mesothelioma specialist. Be sure to check all of the credentials any Mesothelioma specialists claim to have. The local Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau may have information on the Mesothelioma specialists in your area.
