Step 1
Consider the lighting of the room the tv is going to be in. In bright rooms, LCD tv have better pictures and aren't as reflective as Plasmas. In darker rooms, plasma televisions offer better picture. Plasma tvs display black better than LCD tvs do.
-
Step 2
Consider the kind of movies you watch and whether you will be playing a lot of video games. On LCD tvs, motion blur can be noticeable at times with fast images. You can barely notice this on a plasma tv.
-
Step 3
Determine whether viewing angle is important to you. LCD is best viewed on at a straight on angle. The greater the angle you look at a LCD, the picture darkens slightly. Plasma televisions have higher viewing angles.
-
Step 4
Do you want a small or large television? LCD televisions start at about 5 inches. Plasma televisions start at about 42 inches. If you want something small, the only choice is LCD.

on 1/31/2009 PROs for Plasma:
Much better picture quality, no motion blur, great contrast.
CONs for Plasma:
Image Retention has been reduced but still is a concern (especially for gamers)
Consumes more power
Frequency of repair is higher
Cost of repair is higher
Expected life is shorter
Screen reflection from windows and lights
Lots of CONs, but if you have proper lighting and want the best picture Plasma is the choice.
