How to Start A Gratitude Journal

Writing in a gratitude journal has shown to decrease feelings of depression, lift moods, help manage stress, and improve self esteem. Starting a gratitude journal is an easy and quick thing to do. Begin a gratitude journal today, and you will be on your way to having more appreciation for the beautiful things in your life.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Journal
  • Pencil or Pen
  • Markers
  • Map Pencils
  • Time to write in the journal
  • Sharpies (multiple colors)
  1. Step 1

    Got to the store and pick out a journal that you really like. Find a journal that makes you feel joyful and excites you when you think about writing in it.

  2. Step 2

    Use the Sharpie markers to decorate the outside of the journal with the words Gratitude Journal. Continue decorating your journal with your favorite doodles such as stars, flowers, or other symbols.

  3. Step 3

    At the end of the day open your journal up and put the day's date at the top of the page. Below the date write what you are grateful for in your life. You can write about specific things that happened that day, or things you are grateful for in general.

  4. Step 4

    Write in the manner that is most comfortable to you. List what you are grateful for or put it in paragraph for. Either method will work just fine.

  5. Step 5

    Try to write in your journal as much as possible. When you have a bad day, open up your journal and look at everything you have to be thankful and grateful for in your life.
