Being a thrifty shopper at the grocery store is important, especially if you are buying food for a large family. There are a few things you can do to save yourself a lot of money at the grocery store and you can call yourself a thrifty shopper.

  1. Step 1

    Stick to purchasing items on your list. If you stay away from all those extras that you see when you walk down the aisles, you will save yourself a lot of money.

  2. Step 2

    Watch for in store sales. Grocery stores will often times have unadvertised sales. This is a great way to stock up on items that you use often and save yourself some extra money.

  3. Step 3

    Use coupons to save extra money. While clipping coupons can seem like a tedious task, it can make you a much more thrifty shopper at the grocery store. Purchase a coupon organizer to keep those clippings organized.

  4. Step 4

    Buy generic products. There are some things that you can purchase the generic or store brand, and save you a ton of money when you are grocery shopping.

  5. Step 5

    Stock up on everyday items when they are on sale. You can be a thrifty shopper if you stock up on the items you use frequently when they are on sale.

  6. Step 6

    Buy less junk. Junk foods tend to be a lot more costly, and avoiding them can help you become a more thrifty shopper. Stick to healthier foods anyways just because they are better for you.
