Prayer is a wonderful resource in a sometimes troubling world. Prayer groups have been around ever since the first people came together to support each other in times of need or trouble, or in thankfulness and celebration. Prayer is a mysterious and beautiful phenomenon that is now flourishing online. All the barriers of time and distance that once kept groups of people from praying together-or even knowing about each other-are gone. The world is united in prayer 24/7. There are literally thousands of prayer request sites on the internet now. This article can help you to locate the online prayer site you need, and then show how you can make the best use of it.

I was, for about two years, one of the people who prayed for other people, and over their prayer requests, on one of the online prayer sites listed in the resources section below, so I have first-hand knowledge of how effective online prayer groups can be.

We, the members of the Angels and Miracles Prayer Team, were witness to many miracles, after praying over the prayer requests we received. We heard about lives saved, health regained, relationships healed, and financial miracles, just to name a few.

One of the things we noticed was that the most effective prayers seemed to be those that were positive and affirming. What I mean by this is, a prayer such as, "thank you for healing my stomach problems", is an effective way to pray, for those who need a healing. Often, we didn't even know what the problem was, and we were never given more than a first name and a brief summary of the prayer request.

So, when you put in your online prayer request, affirm what you want, and give thanks for it, rather than writing out long pages about the problem, for better results.

Choose an online prayer site that resonates with your beliefs or just "feels right" to you. Trust yourself to know what is right for you. There are prayer sites online for every religion or spiritual belief system you can imagine. Whatever your spiritual beliefs, you can find a prayer group that has the same or similar beliefs to pray for you.

Please omit any personal information, especially about other people, in any prayers that you post online. It isn't necessary for effective prayer, and it isn't good to post personal information about anyone else online without their express permission.

Tips & Warnings

  • Silent Unity is a beautiful place of prayer, where people have been in continuous prayer for over 100 years. It's a good online prayer request place to start with, if you just can't decide on one. I also highly recommend the Angels and Miracles Prayer Team.

  • As with anything, use common sense and trust your gut feelings. If something doesn't feel right to you, it probably isn't what you need.
