How to Get Cheap Tickets to Basketball Games

If you're a basketball fan and want to find cheap tickets to see your favorite NBA team, they're just a click away. You can find cheap tickets on discount ticket sites, through keyword searches and on sites where people are selling their tickets for discounted rates. Read on to get cheap NBA tickets online and enjoy the excitement of basketball with great seats:

1. A great place to begin your search for cheap basketball tickets is your NBA team's Web site. Do a Google search for the team you want to see and their Web site will come up near the top. Click the site and then go to the Tickets tab at the top of the page. A list will appear under Tickets; click Ticket Exchange. Now you'll see a list of basketball games and you can click the game you want to attend. People who are season ticket holders sell their tickets here for discounts and you can look through their offers, check out the seats on the seating chart at the right and pick which game tickets you want to buy.

   If Step 1 doesn't give you the great seats you wanted or the tickets are not cheap enough for you, you can do a Google search for your basketball team's name and promo codes. For example, if you want Boston Celtics tickets, do a Google search for Celtics promo codes. The results will offer you Web sites with coupon codes and discounts on Celtics tickets. You can use these codes when you check out on the NBA's ticket site or on Ticketmaster. You may have to try a few promo codes before finding a good discount as sometimes codes expire or are limited to certain sports games.

3. Another great place to find cheap basketball tickets is Craigslist. Go to www.craigslist.com and click on your city or the city you want to see a game in. Now click tickets and do a search for your basketball team's name. Many times people will sell NBA tickets for discounts on Craigslist because they can't go to a game, received them as a gift and don't want them, or they just need some money. If you find tickets you want on Craigslist, e-mail the seller and arrange to pick them up. Make sure to meet in a public place for safety reasons and make sure you know the exact seats for the game.

4. If you still can't find the basketball tickets you want, you can try eBay. Do a search on eBay for the team name and the date. You may luck up and find cheap tickets this way but many times people hike up the prices on eBay and try to make a profit on tickets.

5. As a last-ditch effort, you can go outside of the stadium where your team is playing and get tickets from a ticket scalper right before the game. You can usually bargain with them so don't take their first offer. Offer them a very low price and they'll probably meet you in the middle somewhere. Make sure you have cash for the tickets.

• When dealing with scalpers, make sure you know the regular appearance of tickets and be familiar with the stadium seating areas and codes so you won't inadvertently buy fake tickets. Make sure your ticket has a bar code.
• If you are buying from a scalper who acts nervous when a police officer or car is around, the scalper may be fraudulent. If someone is legitimately selling tickets at face value or below face value, nothing is illegal and a police officer should not be anything to worry about.
