Instructions

    • 1

Reset the modem and unplug and replug the Ethernet cable on both ends.

    • 2

Reboot the computer with the cables connected.

    • 3

Swap your Ethernet cable with another cable that is either brand new or known to be in working condition. If you can connect to the Internet with the second cable, you need a new one.

    • 4

Connect your Ethernet cable to a different wall jack. If you are still not able to get online, you are probably experiencing a configuration issue.

    • 5

      Verify your IP address.

    • 6

      Disable "Network Bridging."

    • 7

Disable your Wi-fi connectivity (if you use it) to ensure that the wired Ethernet port is open.

    • 8

      Renew the DHCP license.

    • 9

If none of these steps help you, contact your ISP.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't know how to perform any of these steps, please do not attempt them. Ask a professional.
