Step 1
Earn & Build WealthEARN IT: As you can see in the image of the poll results above, the largest share of those participating in the "Get Rich Poll" would prefer to get rich by building a successful business as an entrepreneur. The statistics show that odds against success in a new business are high. Depending on which industry your attempt is in - numbers usually show well over half fail within five years and some statistics suggest odds as high as 95% against entrepreneurial success.
-
Step 2
Win Lottery MillionsWIN LOTTERY: Almost 30% of respondents choose the option to get rich by "Winning the biggest lottery jackpot ever". You can't blame anyone for wanting to win the lottery, however odds on that are well known at about one in fifteen million. Considering that your chances of being struck by lightning are about one in two million, that means you might be struck by lightning about seven times before you win the lottery. Your chances of finding a pearl in an oyster are about one in 12,000 - so you could get rich as an oyster diver a bit faster than by winning the lottery.
-
Step 3
Investment GrowthINVESTMENT: Third place in the poll is held by two different "Invest" answers. People were asked if they'd rather invest in Real Estate (14%) or the Stock Market (7%) and neither one of those investments is doing well as this is written in January 2009. But it clearly illustrates that most people see investment as a significant piece of building wealth and getting rich. We could just as well have asked if they would like to become pro sports superstars or celebrity musicians, singers or successful authors.

Step 4
Inherit Relatives RichesINHERITANCE: Last place in the Get Rich Poll goes to "Inherit a fortune from a distant relative" option. Interestingly, we all know if we have wealth in our families, even if it is a VERY distant relative who is the holder of the money bags. Everyone knows their odds of becoming rich by being named in the will of a relative (or friends family). We could just have easily asked other long odds options such as becoming a professional sports superstar, famous author or top ten musician - but most of us also recognize that those are unlikely paths to riches as well.
