How to Travel Europe With Kids
A trip to Europe for the whole family will be memorable if you choose activities that appeal to children and adults, and you plan the trip to meet the needs of your kids. Many tourist attractions in Europe, like art and history museums, will not hold the interest of your children, so plan a trip that is centered around attractions your kids will enjoy. Proper planning will reduce the stress you might have when traveling with young kids around a foreign country.

1
Choose flights with as few stops as possible. Kids will get tired of traveling especially when there are layovers in multiple airports.
-
2
Minimize traveling within Europe. There is plenty to see in each country. Try to see three to four countries maximum. Your kids will get tired of traveling, and you will become tired of the hassles of moving luggage and changing hotels. Try to limit the length of your trip to two weeks. Kids miss their friends and the comforts of home.

3
Plan light activities for two days after you arrive in Europe. Kids need time to adjust to the time change and get over jet lag. Try to take an hour or two out of every day to let the kids rest so they can recharge and finish the day.
-
4
Choose a type of transportation while in Europe that is suited for children. Taking the train is an easy, inexpensive, and comfortable way to travel in Europe. You do not have to go through the hassles that come with traveling by plane. Consider buying a Eurail pass for your trip.
Renting a car is a viable alternative to taking the train. You can make stops for your children whenever necessary and you can leave whenever you want, which makes a car the most flexible option. -
5
Find hotels that are children friendly. Many European hotels are small and do not have much extra room to accommodate children. Try to find hotels that are spacious and have activities for children, such as a kid's club or a pool.
-
6
Choose destinations that appeal to children. Kids will get bored if they are forced to tour museums all day. Children have lots of energy and need to release it. Switzerland has outdoor activities in the Alps that appeal to all age groups. The south of France, Spain, Portugal, and many other European countries have beaches that kids will enjoy in the summer. Tivoli in Copenhagen and Disneyland Resort Paris in France are fun theme parks for kids.
