The hardest part about exercising can be motivating yourself to go to the gym and start your workout. Once you get going, and finally finish, you typically feel better and are glad you worked out.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • workout partner
  • training log
  • goals
  • desire to succeed
  1. Step 1

Have a workout partner. If you are supposed to meet someone at a specific time, you are more likely to show up and workout.

  2. Step 2

Keep a log. The ability to look back at your previous workouts and see how far you have progressed will motivate you to keep working out in the future. Being able to see your results will drive you to workout harder and achieve greater goals.

  3. Step 3

Set goals. Set weekly, monthly and yearly goals, so you constantly have something you are working towards.

  4. Step 4

Have a cheat day. Have one day a week that you know you don't have to go to the gym, and that you get to eat pizza. Knowing that you are going to go to the gym today, but you get tomorrow off, can help get you out the door.

on 1/4/2009 Look for a gym with free daycare. Our gym lets you bring your child in for up to two hours, and they are great with the kids. Sometimes I go to the gym just for the daycare and child-free time!

on 1/4/2009 I so miss the gym it's just such an expense for day care and the membership itself. But if you can afford it by all means use it, just being around others that are sweating will make you want to sweat too:) 5*
