Things You'll Need:
- 1 Bulb of Fresh Garlic
- Olive Oil
- Oven safe tray
-
Step 1
You have to prepare the garlic clove before you can properly go about roasting garlic. With the pointy side of the garlic bulb facing up place the garlic on a cutting board. Slice off the pointy end to expose the cloves. Cut off enough so that a little bit of every clove, even those on the sides, is exposed.
-
Step 2
Place the garlic, with the exposed cloves up, on a baking sheet. Do NOT remove the skin that surrounds the bulb.
-
Step 3
To make the best roasted garlic drizzle extra virgin olive oil over the exposed garlic cloves. So that you get evenly roasted garlic cloves make sure all the entire bulb is covered with olive oil.
-
Step 4
Roast in the toaster oven or conventional oven at 400 degrees for about 25-30 minutes. The garlic is done when the bulbs are soft enough to easily be pierced with a fork.
-
Step 5
Once lightly browned and soft carefully remove the roasted garlic bulb from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. When it's finished resting, the garlic will still be hot, but can be handled safely.
-
Step 6
Wrap a paper towel around the entire bulb, so only the tops of the cloves are not covered. Using the paper towel to protect your hand, squeeze the entire bulb to get the roasted garlic cloves to fall out. Use a fork to pick out any cloves that don't easily come out of the skin.
-
Step 7
You can now use the roasted garlic cloves for a variety of recipes including Cheesy Garlic Bread (see the link below), salad dressings, Italian dishes, seafood, or to mince.
