Things You'll Need:
- Beignet Mix
- 7 oz. Water
- Vegetable Oil
- Powdered Sugar
- Flour
-
Step 1
Pour oil into a deep skillet, enough to be one or two inches deep. Heat it up to 370 degrees and move on to the next step.
-
Step 2
Put two cups of the Beignet Mix into a bowl.
-
Step 3
Pour in 7 fluid ounces of water.
-
Step 4
Stir until well blended.
-
Step 5
Liberally spread flour on a flat surface. I suggest a cutting board, but any clean flat area will do.
-
Step 6
Now, take the Beignet mix from the bowl and scoop it onto the floured surface.
-
Step 7
Spread some flour on top of the dough ball. This helps make the next steps a lot easier.
-
Step 8
Now, roll the Beignet dough flat. A thickness of 1/8" is recommended by Cafe Du Monde.
-
Step 9
Cut the dough into 2.5" squares with a sharp knife.
-
Step 10
Put the dough squares into the skillet. They should pop to the surface within ten seconds. Make sure they're puffy and golden brown on each side. It won't take long!
-
Step 11
Put the Beignets onto a paper plate covered with paper towels to help drain the oil. They're hot!
-
Step 12
Scoop on tons of powdered confectioner's sugar.
-
Step 13
Enjoy your Beignets!

on 1/3/2009 ummmm - I just love these! I brought a box of Beignet mix home from New Orleans (yes, from the Cafe Du Monde). I make them every once in awhile -- they are excellent! Tip: if you are watching your sugar intake, put SPLENDA in the blender and whip it up into powdered sugar -
